Statement of the Islamic Education Association of the Hawza on the Occasion of Islamic Education Week

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The eighth day of Esfand is designated as Islamic Education Day in memory of the venerable martyrs Rajai and Bahonar. This day and Islamic Education Week remind us of the grave responsibility borne by everyone toward the new generation of the Islamic community and the effort to cultivate individuals who are committed, aware, thoughtful, and virtuous. It is a valuable opportunity to once again review the country’s path in the realm of Islamic education and the activities of educational and training institutions on this important course, and to reflect on its strengths and weaknesses.

The Islamic Education Association of the Hawza, as a scientific and specialized body that places theory-building and reform of the Islamic education system at the forefront of its programs, congratulates the millions of students and the esteemed assembly of mentors, teachers, scholars, and all cultural and educational workers on the advent of this week.

Islamic Education goes beyond merely transferring information and knowledge; it aims to nurture innate talents, strengthen the spirit of truth-seeking, deepen religious and ethical beliefs, and prepare a person for a virtuous life in all dimensions of personal and social life. In the current circumstances, when humanity faces a broad cultural onslaught and doubts about beliefs and ethics, adherence to the teachings of the Qur’an and Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and drawing on the invaluable heritage of Muslim thinkers is an undeniable necessity.

We invite all experts, researchers, and practitioners in the field of Islamic education to work together with unity and collaboration to identify challenges ahead and to propose innovative and effective solutions for elevating the culture of Islamic education in the country. Undoubtedly, the bright future of the Islamic Republic of Iran depends on training a generation of believers, discerning, capable, and hopeful for tomorrow.

From God, the Almighty, we ask for ever-increasing success for all those who serve in the field of education and training on the path toward nearness to God and service to the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.

Mohammad-Javad Zarean President, Islamic Education Association of the Hawza
